Dear list,
I was raised in Franklin Co. PA and have lived in Washington Co. MD most
of my life.
Most names in this area that start with a "K" and followed by a consonat
such as "n" drop the K sound; for
example - the Knice family pronouce their name "Nice". I have come across
several families
[can't bring them to my old mind right now] that do the same thing.

BUT, I have worked with several "Knode" families over the years and they
"all"
pronounce the "K".
And if the name "Cannode" [and other spellings] has the accent on the
last sylable,
Knode and Cannode will sound the same.

I said all that because I believe the Knodes are possibly related to the
names
you are researching. The fact that one lives right next door gives hope.

P.S. And I apologize if any of you have gotten some wacky mail from me,
it was due to my computer being invaded with a "Trojan Horse" virus.
