Morrow & Morrow, Washington County, Maryland Marriages, an Index 1799-1806 is pretty much what is available from public records although the county started in 1776. Too many courthouse fires. These are the dates that a marriage license was taken out - not necessarily the date of the marriage, but all we have. Other sources include newspaper extractions, family Bibles, church records, etc. You have to follow the county evolution back in time to check public records if people are in the same location. Prior to 1776 look in Frederick County, etc.

A newspaper extract indicates a Rev. Henry Hiestand had a letter at the
Hagerstown Post Office - April 8, 1812, Maryland Herald. Since your Henry
is born in 1803 this person must be a generation back. There is also an
equity case in The Torchlight April 4, 1826 for the estate of one David
Martin who died intestate. One of his heirs is Abby who married John
HEASTAND. Other heirs were listed - all lived out of the state of Maryland.
The marriage license date for Henry and Elizabeth Newcomer is 3/18/1830.
while the Ancestry Md marriage database lists it as 18 March 1839. They show
up in 1850 census in Mt. Morris, Ogle County Illinois.
Roger - do you have anything on them in your database? There is also a
Benjamin in that same census in Harrison, Ogle Co.
Henry and Elizabeth's daughter Mary is listed as 19 in 1850 - her birthdate
would be circa 1831. So the 1830 date may be correct. There is also an 18
year old - since the 9 and the 0 are next to each other on the keyboard, who
knows. In 1840 Henry is listed in Maryland Precinct, Ogle County IL.
Benjamin is also there. There are Heistand entries in the 1840 census in
Lancaster Co. PA.

There is an obit for a Henry HEISTAND who died at age 66 28 April 1869 in
the Herald and Torch Light. Also an obit for a Jacob Heistand in the 10
April 1835 Hagerstown Mail. There is nothing in the will index. There is
an interesting entry in the estate distributions:

WELTY, Henry. Adm. Jacob HESTAND, Henry 2/17/1818; ....heirs include Jacob,
Benjamin and Henry HESTAND according to the index. Other heirs wer Jacob
Garber, Jacob Moyer, and Henry Stouver. - appears to be a widow and 5 heirs
in one distribution. Henry Welty has a will in the will index as well as
estate document in 1816. I think I'd look at that will. There is a Henry
WELTY and Mag. NEWCOMER in the marriage license index 10/14/1805.
