Lauren,
Thank you for this information. I just came across emails you and I had
exchanged about this subject a couple years ago, but will go ahead and leave
all information in this message in case someone else may see it and have
pertinent info. It hadn't occurred to me before this week to check if
Eleanor Felker was a member of this Lutheran church. Now we know she
apparently wasn't, I'm thinking she may been from Pa. and perhaps was a
widow because I can't link her with any northern Maryland families. She was
known in the Bartlett family as a "Pennsylvania Dutch lady" with brothers
George and Christopher and a sister Barbara.
Also looks as though the Bartlett children baptized in the Lutheran Church
at the time of John's marriage in 1817 were his children because he was
Anglican. He and his first wife were married in an Anglican church in
London, and she died in 1797, a year after they arrived in Baltimore where
their daughter was christened in the Episcopal church. (That daughter was
returned to England and grew up there.) I have documented that John stayed
in Maryland and I think he probably remarried and had the children. Or maybe
the children were Eleanor's who were never baptized? It's an interesting
puzzle, one of several surrounding the Bartletts and related Felker,
Pheasant and Roberts families. Now I don't know if I'm an English Bartlett
or a German Felker. I'm willing to take more trips to England and Germany in
order to research this further!
Many thanks for your help
