I recieved the actual document yesterday. Wife of G. Washington Purnell was Liza Downing.

Now if Liza didn't marry Purnell until 1855 then she ought to be living at home in the 1850 census. There are only two Downing families in Worcester at that time that I am aware of and I know nothing of this family. A candidate for Liza Downing is "Amelia E Downing age 16" in the 1850 Worcester County, MD census, daughter of William and Hannah. But that isn't enough to go on.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone with more information.
