I've been searching and searching for a James/Jacob Gilles who was born in Wisconsin on Feb 23, 1870 and who was believed to have moved to Maryland. The only thing I have found is a James Gilles age 62 found in state of Maryland on 1930 Census which would be about the right age for our Jacob/James. He marital status is listed as Widowed, Occupation-a Farmer. Worchester County, Election District 9, District 18. Born in Wisconsin. Parents born in Germany.
