Salisbury Daily Times, May 27, 1976 George Edward Purnell, age 81, Services 2:pm Saturday at St. John's UMC, Sinepuxent, Md. Died Tuesday at Peninsula General Hospital, Rev. E.C. Hackshaw officiating. Buried at Berlin Evergreen Cemetary. He worked at the French Quarter Hotel. Son of Jacob Purnell and Julia (Allen) Purnell. His first wife Bertha died in 1954.His 2nd wife was Evelyn F. Purnell. Surviving are five daughters Mae Purnell- Columbus, Ohio, Marie Henderson of Erail, New Jersey, Ellen Tate, Leola Purnell and Clara Purnell of Berlin. Five sons Robert, James, and Georg E Purnell, Jr of New Brunswich, NJ. Sisters Alice Hudson of Philadelphia, PA. and Eva Brittingham of Berlin. Brothers Wilmer and McKinley Purnell of Berlin and Jacob of Phil. PA.
