I am not at all familiar with the Lingo family however the Butler family did marry into the Lingo line. Lingo is still evident in the lower DE area today. I will copy a few skimpy details in hope that it may spark some light into what you are looking for. Thanks Dale Jones

Smith was Ex. of the will of John Holder of Sussex Co., DE on jan.16,1792

Journal and Correspondence of the Maryland Council of Safety, Volume 12, No 16, November 15th 1775. The deposition of Smith Lingo of lawfull age being called on by the Committee, that about 3 or 4 weeks ago this Deponent was at the House of Wm Dykes where met with Benjamin Shockly and Shockly asked him if he was one of the damn'd of the Council of Safety, 1776. 377; associators, he this Deponent replied why what if I am, why said Shockly they are not worth a damn or words that purpose; Schockly taking up a broad ax at the same time told this Deponent not to say a word or he would split his brains open or any that dar'd sign the Association; that this Deponent at sundry times had seen the said Shockly very violent in condemning and threatning other people in the same manner.
