I've no idea if we could be the same family, but my family does include
the names Mary and Elizabeth. The "Mary" is my aunt, and I currently
have Elizabeth as my middle name. I'm told Elizabeth is a traditional
name in my dad's family, i.e. the Meachams.

However, we've been in Chattanooga TN, USA, for five generations now,
since approximately 1849. I know very little except the names and some
rough dates. But here it is, from the present backward.

my father, Edwin Elvis Meacham, Jr.
born Chattanooga, TN, USA
May 31, 1940
Died June 28, 1983 of complications of Multiple Sclerosis

Don't know her birth date, but I believe in late 1930's as she is older
than my father
born Chattanooga, TN
as far as I know, lives near Orlando, FL

my grandfather, Edwin Elvis Meacham, Sr.
born Chattanooga, TN
sometime in 1897
Died 1977, I think.

Great-grandfather Rufus Columbus Meacham
Chattanooga, TN

Great-great grandfather James C. Meacham
Came to Chattanooga supposedly in 1849
Died in 1901, reportedly hit by a street car at the age of 91.
Which would put his birthdate around 1810.
I have no idea where he came from prior to 1849.
