Subject: [Cumberland Co ME] What was "W. O. of G. C."

I have been working with an 1888 directory of Westbrook ME, and have come
across the abbreviation "W. O. of G. T." among the organizations listed in
the volume. Like many organizations in Westbrook at that time, there were
two separate lodges or units of this organization, one meeting in "Golden
Cross Hall" on Main Street in Saccarappa, and the other meeting in "Stevens'
Hall, on Main Street in Cumberland Mills.

Can anyone tell me what the actual name of the organization was and what was
its orientation (e.g. Masonic, labor, mutual benefit, social)?

Thanks in advance!
