Karen, That lady was a real teacher, not someone who just chose teaching
as a job because they could have the summer off. Sadly, in this day and
age she would not be able to do this. Today there is always someone
breathing down teacher's necks telling them not only what to teach, but how
and when to teach it. There is far too much "teach to the test" today.
Regardless of whether that is what the students NEED to know or not. I'm
sure the girl who's Mom died needed the help with meal planning much worse
than she needed to know the capital of Belgian Congo or whatever. Ruth
