Have been going through Greenleaf's (1829) Survey of the State of Maine in
Reference to its Geographical Features, Statistics and Political Economy.

As I've usually focused on southern Oxford County, I was very surprised that
Greenleaf listed northern Oxford County towns as far east to include Eustis.
I then checked with
http: //
www.
negenealogy.com/me/me_maps/me_cf.htm
to see what the boundary changes were and was further surprised that Oxford
County, at one time, extended as far east as Beatie and the Merrill Strip.
(I split up the web address so that it wouldn't be an active link in the
email.)

The various websites that I've seen with boundary change information merely
suggest that Oxford County lost towns Carthage, Jay, and Weld in 1838 to
Franklin County and Livermore and Turner went to Androscoggin County. Is
there a website with more detail about Oxford County boundary changes than
the one at New England Genealogy? Attwood's length and Breadth of Maine is
inadequate on the subject.

Best Regards, Van
