Subject: Edward WILKINS in Exeter, Charleston, d1831
Date: Sun, 16 Jan 2005 22:17:40 -0500
Hello,
I'd like to know if anyone has information on the Edward WILKINS family
living in Exeter or Charleston, ME, from ~1790 until the early 1800's.
I just found out that Edward was a Musician in the Revolutionary War.
And, the record also shows he died at Age 77 on March 9, 1831. He
probably died in Charleston, as I was told that he and his wife are buried
there.
I checked Census information, and in 1820 there was both an Edward WILKINS
and a Daniel WILKINS living in Charleston, so a good guess is that Daniel
was Edward's son. (An earlier Census form showed Edward had 2
children.)
Edward fought in the Rev. War, and he received his Pension while living in
"Maine," but I don't know whether he was there - when he signed up, or
whether he moved to "Maine" after the War.
Thank you for your time.

FYI: I am looking for the father of Samuel WILKINS, born 1775-1780 in
"Maine." I believe that his father was William WILKINS who also fought
in the Rev. War from Pittston, ME. William seemed to live in several
towns along the Kennebec River from Gardiner up to Waterville, and Samuel
was in that same area in 1810 and 1820. (William was there from ~1775
until ~1800.)
Another soldier was Joseph WILKINS, possibly from Wells, ME, whom I can find
no other information on. He might have died in the War.
There was a large WILKINS family in Lewiston and Greene, ME, from at least
1790, but I don't know if any of them fought in the War.
Thank you for your time.
