Does anybody have any details of Peter Haggerty Jr and/or his ship, the
"Horace Bell"? Died: 23 June 1867, age 30, buried at sea enroute from
Port AuPrince, Haiti to Philadelphia USA; death may have been caused by
yellow fever or shipboard mutiny. Record of death exists at St Mary's
RCCh, Houlton ME; purported, but unlocated, marker in St Mary's RCCem

Died at Sea
June 25, 1867
"May His Soul Rest in Peace"
Sea captain, Deer Isle ME; he followed the sea, started as a cabin boy,
rose to command his own ship, the 'Horace Bell', built in Saint Johns NB;
m: into the Haskell family (sea faring folk) from Deer Isle ME.
