Hi Linda & Mary,
Very good suggestions. I'm fairly familiar with a lot of the names of early
Greene families. Unfortunately, I don't think I've run across the Palmer
surname, I'll keep looking though. The Coburn surname is definitely one
that was prominent in the town. In fact, I see a reference to one Joshua
Coburn (b. 13 Feb 1771) who according to the town history aided in
organizing the Parkman Baptist Church, and was its first Deacon. It would
be interesting to learn if your Joshua Coburn is a descendant of this
Joshua.
Also, where Parkman is located in Piscataquis County, I would also try the
Wassebec Genealogical Society. They are a chapter of the Maine
Genealogical Society and meet in the Dover, I can't recall if they have a
member in the Parkman area. The website is at www.rootsweb.com/~mewgs, or
email them at .

I would do a google search for the Maine Historical Society. It,s located in
Portland but has material on the entire state. Also checkout the library in
Dover Foxcroft which is the nearest large town to Parkman. Another good
source is the Bangor Public Library. That is just across the river from
Brewer where your ancestors lived and has a fine library.
Have you tried the Maine State Library and the Maine State Archives? (both
in the same building in Augusta) They also have a Brides Index which lists
marriages from 1894 to the present. Some of Thomas and Martha's children may
have married in that time frame.
Most of these places have an "ask a librarian" feature online or can
recommend a good genealogist.
Parkman came into being in 1822, about the time your ancestors were born.
Families started moving in there in 1812. The first families were all from
Greene ME. By 1820 there were 250 families in Parkman plantation. The first
town meeting was held in 1822. I searched the book "Maine Place Names" by
Ava Chadbourne. She usually names some of the prominent first settlers but
did not find the name Palmer.
