This is the answer I got from Dick Garneau today.

Until I'm provided with the proper documents to prove the
contrary
I'm sticking to the story Francoise Tourault was a French
woman
from Poitou.

This is likely the most contested item on my web site. Its
running 5
for French, 4 for Indian origin like educated in France. I
have stated
both cases and will leave it to other to sort that one out.
There are
many more Metis unrecorded in Quebec than records suggest.
