OSHKABEWISENS, Joseph Peter In loving memory of Joseph Peter Oshkabewisens,
Police Constable (Retired), 77 years, who passed away Monday morning, May
31, 2004 at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Sudbury. Beloved husband of Rose
(Marshall) Oshkabewisens. Loving father of Marianne Oshkabewisens, Francine
Mendoshkin, John Laford, Roberta (husband Hector Martin), Gloria (husband
Ron McGregor), Grant (wife Theresa), Neil (wife Joanna), May Recollet and
Debbie Recollet. Dear grandfather of 19 grandchildren and many
great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Dear son of the Late
Susan (Shawana) and Andrew Oshkabewisens (both predeceased). Predeceased by
step-mother Late Liza Corbiere and great-aunt Late Mary Shawana. Dear
brother of Late Agatha Naponse, Joyce Kagige, Ignatius Gabow and Stella
Manitowabi and Georgina Petahtegoose (all predeceased), Josephine Lewis,
Nora Maiangowi, Margaret Steeves and Victoria Mandamin (husband John). He is
survived by many nieces, nephews, dear friends and special relatives Frank
Jocko (wife Lima), Stella Toulouse and Albert Peltier (wife Sara). Joseph
was a police officer with the Wikwemikong Tribal Police for 22 years
retiring in 1989. He was a community role model in his chosen career. He
enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching baseball and hockey. He also enjoyed
refurbishing old tractors and lawn mowers. Resting at Holy Cross Mission,
Wikwemikong, ON. (Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday). Funeral Mass
Friday, June 4, 2004 at 11 a.m. Followed by cremation. (Funeral arrangements
