Dear Mary Frances:
I'm sure your note wasn't meant to be read by all, but it was so interesting that I just kept reading.
And, when I saw one of my surnames, WHITTEN, mentioned, I decided to answer this note.
My last WHITTEN ancestor, Eliza Ann, was born in Newburgh, Penobscot Co, in 1820, and eventually moved to Nebraska.
Eliza Ann was married in Unity, Waldo Co, to Nehemiah Gowen, 1847. Nehemiah died and abt 1855 she married Daniel Lenfest.
If there is any interest here for you, I would love to compare notes.

Dearest Tom,
I was on the computer just now and was thinking of you and up your message
popped! I think of you often and well. I have gotten some good work done
of late. I get stuck on the Catholic parts of the family. The Protestants
did seem to keep better records, or have a better chance of having a Mormon
pop into the tree and get everything organized. My cousin Betty who does
Mom's maternal side keeps copies of everything and it is so easy to retrace
her steps. I didn't keep good records when I started and am having to
duplicate my own efforts. I hope you will encourage all the newbies to
document--nothing more frustrating than trying to "figger" where you first
found a fact!
Do you know if the Whitten Cemetery in Liberty and the Whitten and Vose
Cemeteries in Montville have been transcribed? Does anyone have access to
these records?
I thank you again for helping so much with Waldo kin. Please also extend
thanks to Cookie Mushero, Isabel Maresh Morse, and Betsy Mosher for their
help, without which I would still be asea. God bless all of you this coming
year. Maryfrances
