Good morning list,

I hope everybody is having a great new year so far in 2005!

Are you all up for some fun this year? I thought it might be fun,
interesting, and informative and might even generate more message
traffic if we would have Waldo County town themes on a biweekly
basis. So, let's do it. :)

Here's how it will work: Every other week I'll announce a Waldo
County town that we'll focus on. If we go alphabetically we can
start with the county seat of Belfast and with 26 towns in the
county we can finish up the year with Winterport. When the town of
your interest comes up be sure to send in your query or information
for your family of that town.

But let's not stop with genealogy -- we can include other
historical stuff too. If you have any historical information of
that town, cemetery inscriptions and locations, any neat web sites
for that town, images, postcards, whatever, please share it with
the list.

Of course, we can discuss families of any Waldo County town at any
time of the year, so we don't have to wait for our specific town to
come up. I do hope all members will contribute something to this
theme for maximum benefit of all members.

By the way, I'd like to thank Tom Elliott for all he did for this
list from its inception in 1998 to November of last year when Tom
handed the reins of the list over to me. Thanks Tom! But we're not
letting Tom off the hook -- we can expect many contributions from
Tom in the future. And Tom can always be found at his Waldo County
GenWeb site at
<http://www.rootsweb.com/~mewaldo/index.htm>http://www.rootsweb.com/~mewaldo/index.htm
. In fact, if you scroll all the way down to the bottom and click
on "biography" you can see what a real live Mainer looks like. <G>

I'm looking forward to hearing from all members of the list in 2005.

Best wishes,
David
