Hi again,
I forgot to say that in the old messages in the archives of this List,
someone had mentioned that several families left the area in the 1820's and
moved north to Aroostook County.
The "history of Aroostook County" was recommended. I just checked and the
book is available in the Reference Dept. / Special Collections Room at the
Haverhill, MA, Library. That is about a half-hour drive up a highway
from me, so I'll try to get there within the coming weeks. *

Unfortunately, the "excellent librarian" in that Special Collections Room
has recently passed away. And, the "Room" was closed for a while during
his illness. I'm told it is open but on a limited schedule. So, it is
necessary to call and check on the schedule before driving there.
(Great "history room" !)
