I would imagine the national archives is the only place. I got my ggg
grandfathers papers and his pension papers, and yes, they don't include any
birthdates except what was in his widows bible that they copied from. Were
there any children for him? Good luck with your search. I'm in Canada, and
I'm having a hell of a time getting my great grandfathers paper for the
first world war from our archives here.
