Lewis Alvers enlisted on August 12th, 1862 at age 21 in the 23rd New York Light Artillery. He mustered out on July 14th, 1865 at Fort porter New York. The 23rd was stationed in the areas of southeast virginia but mostly in North carolina during the war. michigan graves registration for CW vets shows him in the cemetery you have him in. if you need anymore info on the 23rd or any other questions I have 3 rooms of reference material.
