No they dont. You can order pension files from the national archives but they are pricey. What you get is usually what the pension department thought most pertinent to copy. A private researcher can most of the time get them for you cheaper and include some things you may not get from the nara forms. Ive been to the national archives many times. Whats there on a soldier is not what you get from the standard military records request form or the pension request form. I can reccomend someone if you are interested. I have reports from the 23rd independent battery which I can scan for you and send them via email free of charge if you are interested. Glad to help. Ive been to some of the areas where they were. They were a lucky unit and didnt suffer casualties in the fights they were in although they also werent involved too heavily either. The 23rd started out as a rocket battalion of artillery which was later abandoned and they were turned into regular artillery which took
some time to retrain them. Some of that had to do with their low casualty rate They didnt lose a single soldier by fire and suffered 47 deaths by disease.

Kim, Thank you so much for the information, I was so surprised that you're
working on a Holiday. Really delighted with the information you gave me. Do
any of your records contain Pension files? Thanks again, Alida Hendershot
