It's not always complete, but a good start.

Michigan vital records start in April 1867. There are some county
records also available earlier, primarily marriage records. Some of
those local county records are available at the Library of Michigan, a
lot of them through the LDS network.
A PDF detailing the years and call numbers for the state records
available at the Library of Michigan is here:
http://michigan.gov/documents/hal/hal_lm_Vitals_174109_7.pdf .
The Burton Collection in Detroit, among many other things, has a City
of Detroit death index starting in 1920. Between the state records
available at the Library of Michigan, and the Detroit death index
available at Burton, researchers have access to a terrific run of Wayne
County materials.
Thanks.

I am looking for Maria Becker Stinger, dob 1844 in Alsace Lorraine. She
married Ernhardt Stinger, lived in Midland, Ohio for several years before
moving
to Waterloo, Iowa before 1866. They had three sons and settled in the
Saginaw/Bay City area of Michigan later. I cannot find them on census records
except in Iowa and Ohio. My aunt moved to Michigan to live with them in the
late
1800s, so I know they were there. They had three sons. Anyone know of them? I
assume even the sons are dead by now, but surely they left children. This is
very important. Thank you. Jean Pruett
