Hello,
I am just starting to research my name - SCHAB. If anyone has any
information about this name, please let me know. I may be traveling to Poland next
summer and would love to find out more about my ancestors before leaving. I'm
very new at this. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Below is
what I already know.

My grandfather, Joseph Schab, was born in Poland in 1895. He came to the
U.S. in 1913. He worked as a finisher in a furniture factory in Grand Rapids.
My grandmother, Josephine Skiwa, was born in Poland in 1895. She came to the
U.S. in 1911. Her brother Josep Skiwa came to the U.S. from Poland in 1910.
Josep was born in 1894. He worked as a miner in the gypsum mines in Grand
Rapids. According to the 1920 census, they were living at 909 Nagold St. nw in
Grand Rapids. They had 6 children - Rose, Mary, Harry, Julian, Fred and Eugene.
My father is Julian and he was an identical twin with Harry. Julian was
born in 1919.
