Mrs. Elaine WEISSERT - 600 Golden Dr., Director's Hall, Kalamazoo, passed away Thursday (Jan 6, 1977) in Plainwell after a lingering illness. Mrs. WEISSERT was born May 23, 1892 in Hastings, Mi. She was retired housemother from the University of Rhode Island. She had been a resident of Kalamazoo since 1921 and was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1947. Surviving are 3 sons, Laurence and Fred, both of Plainwell, Charles of Dallas, Texas; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Marshall-Gren Chapel, Plainwell until Monday morning. Additional Information: Services Set Monday for Mrs. WEISSERT, Plainwell, services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Riverside Cemetery in Hastings for Mrs. Eleaine WEISSERT, 84, who died in Plainwell Thursday. She was the widow of former Gazette state editor and historian Charles A. WEISSERT. Mrs. WEISSERT taught school in Barry County, was director of Trowbridge Hall on the campus of Kalamazoo College and later served as director of girls' residence at Rhode Island State College. Her husband Charles died in 1947. He had been a state legislator from Barry County and a long time member of the State Historical Commission. He was state editor and historical writer for the Gazette for 20 years. Mrs. WEISSERT leaves three sons, Laurence and Frederick of Plainwell and Charles Jr. of Dallas, Texas. There are six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by the Marshall-Gren Funeral Home in Plainwell.
