Mildred F. Townsend, age 82, of North Manchester, Indiana, passed away September 18, 1999 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, NOrth Manchester, Indiana. She was born February 12, 1917, in Montgomery County, Ohio, the daughter of Jesse Brumbaugh and Edith May Shanks. Mrs. Townsend graduated from the Jefferson High School, W. Dayton, Ohio and from the Miami Valley Hospital Nursing School. Mrs. Townsend was a retired Registered Nurse from Pennock Hospital. She married Ralph H. Townsend on March 21, 1942. Mrs. Townsend is survived by her husband, Ralph Townsend; three sons, Phillip Townsend of East Jordan, Michigan, Rodney Townsend of Breading, Kentucky, and Melvin Townsend of Sutton West Virginia; one daughter, Karen Mae of Larkspur, California; four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 23, 1000 at 6:00 p.m.at Wood Grove Christian Brethren Parish, Woodland, Michigan with Reverend Ben Herring officiating.!
Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland. Memorials may be made to Organic Farmers Association. Arrangements were made by Delaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, Indiana.
