Bonnie, hard to say. Generally not. The records in 1867 were not as
complete as the records later. Did you find this person in the search
engine for the Bay site? Sometimes the cemetery records are more complete
than death records. The accuracy of the death record depends on who was
filling it out - and it may have been someone who did not know the parentage
of the person. When I started doing genealogical transcribing I kept noting
with some frequency that the bride's mother's maiden name was unknown.
Finally clicked - it was the groom who was getting the license and no, they
didn't know the maiden name of the bride's mother, just her married name.

Hi Donna:
Just wanted to ask you about original death certificates. Do they generally
give more information than the record I found on the net? What I got was
from the Mich. Dept. of Community Health - it's called a Genealogical Death
Indexing System. I didn't get enough info on John Patrick who died on Aug.
31, 1867. Thanks for your input.
