Yes, remove the tissue, but if the pictures will then touch each other
face-to-face, wait until you get a replacement tissue. For that, go
to:

http://www.where-to-surf.com/light/

which will take you to Light Impressions, a very reliable company with
whom I have done business for years.

Under "Mounting" choose "Papers and tissues" and click on the word
"Mounting." From there, choose "Interleaving tissues."

If all the prints in the album were black and white, gelatin silver
prints (like we used to get before color), either type of tissue would
do. If there are any other kind of prints, and the age you mention
indicates they all are, use the nonbuffered Renaissance Tissue. A
package of 100 letter size sheets costs $6.95. Others sizes are
available. Just place the new tissues between the pages of the album;
unless you have experience in choosing and using permanent mounting
materials, any attempt to stick them in place might do more harm than
good.

If you can get a Light Impressions catalog, it will have a lot of
information you or anyone seeking to preserve old materials can use.

Cheers, Jim
