HI. I saw your message. I am Albion's Historian (NOT RELATED). Levi's BROTHER Isaac Sibley was mayor of Albion in 1891 and is buried in Albion in Riverside Cemetery. There is a picture of him in my book "A History of Albion, Michigan." Isaac Lewis Sibley was born May 10, 1845 in Parma Township, Mich, died March 24, 1929 i Albion. His parents were William and Ruth (Vincent) Sibley, both natives of New York. Isaac was chaplain of our local GAR post. He married Emma J. Dunn on Nov 12, 1873. She was born Sept 18, 1850 in Scranton, PA, died i Albion April 14, 1913. The family came to ALbion in 1884. Isaac was also married to Eleanor Dennison born Nov 10, 1869, died Sept 26, 1957. (I am guessing this was his second wife after his 1st wife died). Also buried here is a Fred D. Sibley, son of William H. Sibley and Ruth M. ____ who died here at the age of 39 years on June 19, 1889. Also a Jane A. Sibley born November 7, 1847 in Clarence Township, Michigan (north of Albion) died Oct 1!
4, 1919 in Albion. She was the wife of Reuben Sibley, they were married Dec 24, 1866. Reuben was another son of William Sibley and Ruth Vincent. He died Sept 1, 1892 ate age 57 years. He served as a private in Company I (eye) of the 6th Michigan Heavy artillary.
I hope this information helps. Isaac was once a prominent citizen here. I featured Isaac on one of my Riverside Cemetery tours. Feel free to learn more about Albion history by reading my articles on www.albionmich.com. Best wishes, Frank Passic, Albion Historian.
