I answered this query privately, but wanted to get some general information
out there in case you are researching California. You've all been such a
great help to me ... I'm glad that I can return the favor.
The California death index is online at
http://www.vitalsearch-ca.com/gen/ca/_vitals/cadeygen.htm (This url is for
more recent deaths, but other areas of the website will take you to earlier
death information). The popups on this site will make you crazy ... just
look for the "search" information in the lower right hand corner of your
screen.
Obits in Southern California are a different kind of animal. They are
difficult to find, because there are so many newspapers in which to look.
The towns overlap the newspaper coverage, and of course different papers
were published at different times. It's a necessity to have a last known
address to begin looking for obits here. I know of only 2 people who do
obit lookups for free...and I am 50% of that group.
I've put lots of information about southern California obits on my little
web page, which is http://home.pacbell.net/phinkel

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.

Message Board Post:
I would like to obtain the obituaries of my cousins, former Battle Creek
residents, Amy Klose, who died in California on 12/07/1976 and her sister
Ellen Sue Klose, who also died in California, on 9/22/1971. I believe they
are the daughters of Rose Koenig Klose, originally of Wisconsin. I am
interested in knowing if there were additional siblings in the family or if
anyone is researching the family. There may still be relatives in the
Battle Creek area. Any information would be appreciated.
