DONALD E. VAN VLEET
Chiefland, Fla.

Donald E. VAN VLEET, 70, of Chiefland, Fla., and formerly of Battle Creek, a retired auto-body repairman, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 1995, in Old Town, Fla. after a long illness. He had been seriously ill since July.

He was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Battle Creek to Ira and Iva (WISE) VAN VLEET. He lived in Battle Creek all his life until moving to Florida 20 years ago.

He worked for Robert H. Holmes, Large and Keyes body shops before retiring.

He was an Army sergeant during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5625 in Chiefland.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A marriage to the former Betty L. BADGER ended in divorce. He later married Stella "Mickey" VAN VLEET. She survives.

Also surviving are daughters, Janice MILLER of Assyria and Brenda Joyce NISWANDER of Hendersonville, N.C.; son, Donald E. VAN VLEET of Houston; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildlren.

Visitation: One hour before services.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, with the Rev. B. Kyra Jackson officiating.

Burial: Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials: Charity of one's choice.
