I have a portrait photograph of my grandmother and I am trying to fix the probable year it in which was taken.... most likely sometime between 1896 to 1899.

It is the size of a playing card (2.5" x 4 "), and is hard-backed with
"J. Ross, 25 George Street Edinburgh" embossed at the bottom of the portrait photo
On the back is printed:
"John Ross, Photographer and Miniature Painter
137 Princes Street
Edinburgh
REMOVED TO 25 GEORGE STREET
(Nearly Opposite the Commercial Bank)

Branch Establishment
North Berwick.

Any leads on when this move by the photographer took place, or any other suggestions on how to date this photo would be appreciated.
