I am researching my 3ggf (Robert STODART) and his long-lost first wife, whom
I believe to be Janet KEESON. They were married (or proclaimed?) at St.
Cuthbert's Feb. 13, 1826, where her name was listed at Janet CARSON (M119896).

According to the IGI, a son, John STODART, was born in St. Cuthbert's parish
July 11, 1827 to them. (This as an IGI patron record rather than an
extraction record.)

A daughter, Agnes STODART, was recorded at St. Cuthbert's as being born Nov.
9, 1831 to Robert Stodart and Jesse (Janet?) KEESON (C119888).

According to family stories, Robert's first wife died, and being unable to
care for them, the children went to live with grandparents. Robert left for
North America and started our branch of the STODART family. He returned
briefly to Edinburgh with his second wife and family, but was back in
Pennsylvania by 1850.

In the 1841 Peebleshire census, a Charles, age 12, and Agnes, age 9, appear
with John and Elizabeth (STEWART) STODART in Cardronna.

Could someone do me a giant favor and look in the 1841 Edinburgh Census for
William and Agnes (GAY) KEESON to see if any STODART children are listed in
their household? We suspect there may be a William and/or a John STODART.

Is there a 1931 Edinburgh census for the area around St. Cuthbert's? I was
hoping to determine if Robert and Janet were present, what children were with
them, and very importantly for me, to find Robert's occupation, making his
trail easier to follow. Diane Yarger in Sinking Spring, PA
