Hi all

Two questions relating to Edinburgh parishes in the mid 1800s:

1) Can anyone direct me to a web site, hardcopy or FHC resource which
shows a map of the parishes of (greater) Edinburgh in the mid 1850s.
Or, is it possible for SKS to even describe the approximate boundaries
by reference to modern day Edinburgh?

2) Could someone 'translate" into parish names the areas covered by the
Carstairs' indexing of the 3 areas of the 1851 census of Edinburgh,
namely The Canongate (possibly obvious), the Old Town and the New Town.
Alternatively, what parishes (part or whole) are NOT covered in the
Carstairs' volumes?

Thanks & regards,

Malcolm Ward
Sydney, Aust.
