Dear Carol,
I hope I haven't waited too long answering your wonderful e-mails. I say wonderful because the Midlothian names you mentioned are all places where varius members in my YOUNG family came from. I just feel, even though I know that the YOUNG name is a popular one in Scotland, we have just got to have some connections somewhere because your and my YOUNG family's seem to be concentrated in the same areas.
I'm late in responding because right after I sent out the e-mail you mentioned seeing, I caught that terrible flew and I stayed really sick all through Christmas. It's New Years day now and I'm just beginning to be functional again.
I will include some background about my "YOUNGS" but will try to make it brief so that I can be sure and get it sent today. If any of it sounds interesting to you I will be so glad to send you a capy of all I have. Just say the word.
My g grandfather was George YOUNG b: 1826 in Dalkeith. He married Catherine BLACK who was b: ab 1832 in Isle of Mull. They raised a large family in and around Newbattle, Cockpen, Gorbridge, etc. and emmigrated to the U S in the 1870's and 1880's. Most of the family came over but not all at once. Some of the older children stayed in Scotland and some that came over returned to Scotland. I am still trying to find them all. It is so interesting. I'm excited that two distant cousins have contacted me about this family. The world seems to be getting smaller. If there is any connection between us I will share the information with you that they have shared with me.
To continue, my g g grandfather was William YOUNG b:1793 in Hunterfield. He marrried Janet NOTMAN who was b: in 1786 in Gaukshill, Cockpen. I'll stop there for now and look forward to hearing from you as soon as you find the time.
Do have a wonderful new year, The very best to you,
Yvonne
