This last email brought to mind what someone told me, which I'm not sure is
true or not. I had mentioned to someone that I had looked up people with my
families surnames, on the internet white pages, who lived in the Bathgate
area. I had written about 10 letters and received no replies. I was told that
in Scotland, people are very wary of finding new relatives, because they
could go after an inheritance.

This sounded very odd to me and I'm wondering if this person knew what they
were talking about! My letters explained that I was working on my family
tree and were just friendly, not threatening, by any means!
