Was that 1834 birth a recorded birth date, or more likely baptism date??
Sometimes the baptism was delayed years- I have noted a 16 year gap in one case.
I attended the baptism!! Both your boys may have had christening only, recorded.

The lack of a death record may mean her given name was recorded as a variant
such as Janet or Jane. Or she was registered with her mother surname. In early
times the marriage was sometimes contracted AFTER the bairns arrived,
