It predates the Huguenots . 1066 to be exact. It is an old Norman name.
Sir William Gascoigne was the High Sheriff of England. I have a chart
showing his tree, which includes the king's of Scotland ,England and Ireland
all in the tree . Pity it is not my tree though, I do not know when we came
to England, but like all researchers I hope to find the first one. My
Husband is the source of the name
