Can anyone tell me if there are ORIGINAL registers of St. Cuthberts and High
Church available? I've seen the indexed compilation, register of marriages
for all Edinburgh parishes, on FHL film, but believe there should be more
info in the original record - shouldn't the names of witnesses, called
cautioners in Scotland, be given?

My ancestor Isabella Stephenson/Stevenson married James Pocock in 1839 in
the Relief Church, recorded at St. Cuthberts, and her sister Margaret
married John Wight in 1842 at High Church, but the entries in the compiled
register do not give the names of witnesses who may be clues to further
research. If there are original registers for these two churches, where are
they located? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Happy hunting,

Sonia (in the U.S.)
