I've hit a ten-foot-thick cement wall with one of my families. I've spent
way too much money on Scotland's People, trying to find their marriages or
deaths, and have come up almost completely empty-handed. I've found the
family in the 1841 census, but after that, I can only find information about
one son. The two daughters are listed on the IGI (christenings), but not in
the
OPRs at Scotland's People (which doesn't make much sense... and I'm sure if
there are records of the girls' christenings, there must be records for the
boys' as well).

If someone could have a look at the 1851 (or 1861) census, I'd be very
grateful, as
I'm starting to wonder if the whole family (except for the one son) died in
some kind of tragic incident before standard death records were kept in
1855.

Here is the family, as they appeared in 1841 at 1 Richmond Place, St.
Cuthbert's:

David HORNE, 45, Boot & Shoe Maker
Isabella HORNE, 40
James HORNE, 14, Apprentice Silk Mercer
Isabella HORNE, 8
Agnes HORNE, 5
Robert HORNE, 3
Henry HORNE, 7m
James HORNE, 80, Labourer

James (age 14) is my ancestor... 1827-1868. His brother, Robert, supposedly
took in some of James's children after the deaths of James and his wife (she
died 1871). So Robert should still be alive in 1871.

I'm especially interested in the parents, David & Isabella, since they were
born outside of the census county. If I can find out where they were born,
it might give me a clue as to where they were from (or where they may have
returned to).

Thank you!
