he won't be on them, Margaret. he's too young.
Though if his parents are known, they should show up.
but without his birth, the parents' names might not be
known yet.
when i'm in hte library on Tuesday, i'll see what the
1881 has to say about Fortescues living in MLN. thre
were certainly a few around. but 'm not in hte
Edinburgh area and son't have access to MLN records.
Maybe someone at the Scottish Genealogy Society in
Edinburgh could recommend a local researcher who could
access his birth at New Register House on your behalf.
www.scotsgenealogy.com
e-mail:
New Reg. House themselves may do a search for you but
the starting price will be £13.50 as that's what the
copy of hte cert will cost. i can't speak for
search costs as, the only time i've sent for a cert
from them, i had all hte details beforehand.
another helpful online grroup is RootsChat
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,97.0.html
you need to be a member, but it is free, polite and a
squeaky clean site. they have their site divided into
counties all British counties so you may find someone
who can help you on hte MLN page
all hte best with your quest. i've got 2 Scottish
borns living in England and all their English census
said was 'Scotland'! :-/ i'm getting nowhere fast
with them :-( and they're direct forebears :-(
le durachd :-)
