Hi Pamela,
I agree with Sally...in the main I'd believe the Marriage Certificate over
the Death Certificate. We have also to take into account that people do not
always tell the truth.
Many people do not know the correct names of their grandparents particularly
if they died young. Three of my mother's grandparents died long before she
was born and she was not correct in naming them on her parents' death
certificates.

My mother in law named the people she was brought up by on her Marriage
Certificate and also erroneously stated that they were both deceased.
Apparently they didn't approve of the man she was marrying. Good judges of
character I'd say.
I've never been able to trace these people although I do believe she was
brought up by her mother's sister.
If my sister in law hadn't given me her Birth certificate I'd never have had
a clue to her real identity.

My mother in law died when my husband was a young child. When we went for
Australian Citizenship he could not give her correct name without looking at
his Birth Certificate. They must have thought we were a funny lot for when
my teenaged son was separately asked his mother's name he replied, "Mrs
Ross!"

This is what makes geneology interesting.
Mrs Ross
