Looking at the emigration records section of this site
http://www.scan.org.uk/researchrtools/emigration.htm
I found reference to "Government census" for 1801, 1821 and 1831.
Does anybody know what information was gathered in these census, whether
they have survived and, if so, the repository?
I have tried using the online catalogue at
http://www.scan.org.uk/aboutus/indexonline.htm
but it does not work for me. This is probably due to my browser and firewall
settings but the site does not tell me what they should be to use it. I have
emailed SCAN asking
