MY apparent Huguenots were living in Uttoxetor in 13th century! I have lots
of stuff about them from the Pipe Rolls - cant track my line back that far
of course but they were there. And I have studied the Huguenot records and
found no suggestion at all of the DUROSE family in them - as someone says,
it could well be a side branch from way back.

As for folklore, I have found there is often that grain of truth which has
been very well padded over the years. Or, in the case of one line, made up
to hide illegitimacy
