Subject: [MIDLOTHIAN] Sheriffhall and baptisms in different parishes ?

Hi Listers,
I have been mystified for a number of years by some baptisms and burials which I found for my GIBSON family line in the "Registers of Edrom Church ". One such entry for the baptism of Anderson Gibson in 1818, son of David Gibson, hind Sheriffhall; another being the burial of a daughter , Alison also in 1818 , who is the daughter of David, hind Sheriffhall.
The only Sheriffhall I have ever found since digging these entries out 5 years ago is by Dalkeith. I have two questions which I'm hoping might alleviate my mystery.
1.. How usual or unusual would it be for someone to be "of" Sheriffhall , yet have his children baptized or buried in Edrom? Do these registers refer to the man's hometown as it were, because I always thought "hind" referred to his place of work?
2.. Alternately, does anyone have any knowledge of another Sheriffhall ANYWHERE in Scotland (particularly Berwickshire) which might explain a closer relationship to the Church records. As well, I have reference to Sheriffhall found in the "Register of Baptisms belonging to the Congregation of Protestant Dissenters that meets in Golden Square Berwick upon Tweed" - even further away.
As a complete aside , I drove around the Sheriffhall turnaround in 2002 in complete amazement of where I was , fully recognizing the nameplace as to its historical ancestry importance to me. J
Regards,
Gary in Vancouver
