ABBOTSFORD Off No. 62287
Iron screw steamer.
Lauched 22nd April 1870 , as Yard No 103, by Blackwood & Gordon , Port
Glasgow.
1053 GRT
227.5ft L, 29.4ft B, 15.7ft D.
Compound ( two cylinder) steam engine and one single ended coal fired boiler
operating at 70lbs/sqin pressure supplied by shipbuilders.107 HP
One deck, five bulkheads.
Owners : G. Gibson & Co., Ltd., 64 Commercial Street , Leith.
Port of Registry : Leith

1882 New boiler fitted
1906 22nd October . Captain Bridges . Involved in a collision with Hull
steam trawler HELEN MACGREGOR off the mouth of the river Tyne .
Ship sank in deep water . The crew were all saved.

ABBOTSFORD when first launched was involved in Rotterdam/West Africa trade
but later worked the Leith/Near Europe routes.
At the time of her loss she was on passage Ghent/Leith with a general
cargo..
