Hi Rhoda,
Thank You for the info on John Thomson at Campend, I do not know if Robert Was his Father on the 1841 Census, as I have John's Dad Robert marring his Mum Marion Tait in 1790.
The Robert in the 1841 census would of been born 1781,so it could be his Uncle or Cousin.
John had a brother Robert but he was born 1804, he stayed Sliverknowes.
So Robert at Campend  is another mystery.
Thank you for your help.
Karen

Hello Karen

In the 1841 Census there is a John Thomson aged 25, an agricultural labourer
living at Campend cottages Newton with his father Robert, 60, and his wife
Janet, 20, and daughter, Catherine, 1.

In 1861, he is a ploughman. living at Campend with Janet and 6 children (all
born Newton)    who are:

James (16)
Marion (13)
Alexander (11)
Margaret (9)
Isabella (6)
Janet (3)

[In 1851 he and Janet are at Campend with their children two of whom don't
appear with them in 1861: Catherine (10) and Robert (8).]

He is still at Campend with Janet in 1871.+ children James, Janet and
Marion.

In 1881, he and Janet are living in Newton with their son Robert, now 38.

Hope that helps.

Rhoda
