According to ScotlandsPeople, John Durham McDonald's second wife was Jane Donaldson. According to
limited information posted in a family tree at Ancestry, the family emigrated to Sydney, Australia
with John arriving first. I found his wife and the two children who were said to have joined him on
a passenger list leaving London in 1915 but couldn't find him. One possible was a John D McDonald
who sailed from London in 1912. There is a John Durham McDonald in the Australia Electoral Lists
database in Sydney for 1930 and 1936.

William McDonald married Janet Watson on 7 Jul 1899 in Leith. Parents: William McIntosh McDonald and
Jane Archibald. William and Jessie McDonald are at 192 Bonnington Rd, Leith on the 1901 census with
a 10 month old daughter, Mary. William's occupation is tanner. Possible death: There is a William
McIntosh McDonald who died in 1959 in Inveresk and Musselburgh, Midlothian at the age of 83. There
is no image available.

James Christie McDonald married Maria Jane Smith on 28 Feb 1908 in Leith. Parents: William McDonald
and Jane Archibald. There is a death registration dated 1945 for James Christie McDonald, age 64,
in Leith.

Annie Chambers McDonald married William Procter on 23 Mar 1905 in Leith. Parents: William McDonald
and Jane Archibald.

There were too many Margarets to narrow it down. Did she have a middle name?

I have been trying to find marriages and deaths of some of the following:

William McIntosh MacDONALD, born 1840 Dornoch, Sutherland. d.1915 Leith =
Jane ARCHIBALD b.1844 and died 1865 in Edinburgh.

Children:

John Durham McDonald b. 1864, Leith = Elizabeth ARCHIBALD
Margaret McDonald b. 1867 in Leith
Jane McDonald b. 1869 and died 1928 Leith = George CONDIE
Thomas b. 1871. d.1872
William b. 1876
Annie b. 1878
James b.1880
Andrew b. 1883, d 1961 Edinburgh = Christina STEWART

I have searched a lot on Scotlandspeople but, needless to say, a lot of
McDonalds appear!
I have thought of subscribing to Ancestor.com but wonder what experience
others have had and would like to hear what you have to say. I know there is a
14 day trial but I was thinking of longer.


Meanwhile, if anyone recognises the above family I would like to hear from
you.
