For some years I have been searching for James MANTEL and his wife Sarah.
The 1841 and '51 censuses put James' birth as 1771 in Cleobury Mortimer but
I have been unable to find him in Shropshire. I have found a James Mantill
b.1771 in Old Swinford, Worcs. and he married Sarah NEW in Old Swinford 4 Jan
1808. My James had his first child in Neen Savage 1810. I am hoping the two
James may be the same person. If anyone has any knowledge of these people I
would love to hear from them.

I find this an interesting question because I too have a link between Old
Swinford and Cleobury Mortimer (1688-1712) for which I can find no secondary
evidence which would enable me to add it to my genealogy with confidence. It
makes me wonder if there is some social or economic reason why these places
might be linked. Apart from these apparent family links I can find no obvious
reason why there should be a flow of folk from one place to the other.
Are there other researchers who have uneasy links between Old Swinford WOR
and Cleobury Mortimer SAL?
