Actually, Qwepies is still there. Only the name has changed. Some area
businessmen somehow got the copyright to the name a couple of decades
ago. I am happy to report that their business went belly up in short
order. The building you remember is still there with it's red tile
roof. It is called Halo Burger and has a few other outlets around the
county. The burgers are still good. Long time residents still call it
Qwepies and we try to train newcomers to do the same. In the last few
years there has been an effort made to restore the Vernors mural on the
building next door. That building is now owned by the Flint Arts
Council.

Thank you. I was in Flint the last time in 1969. Had just returned from a
tour of duty in Germany. But just stopped to see my mother and go on to new
assignement in Nevada. So did not get to do any sight seeing on the changes
that had taken place since I had join the Air Force in 1952.
Sure miss Flint. But understand there are changes I wouldnt like now days.
Of course my mother has since died and only have some cousins still in the
area is abt all thats left of any family.
Miss Central and Whittier and what use to be the best High School Campus any
where in my Opinion. I suppose the old Qwepies on Saginaw st downtown is
long gone. Remember going there after the football games getting a burger
and a Vernors Ginger ale. Those were the days.
The library was downtown in those days.
